Quick dinner: potato gnocchi with cheese and basil sauce

There are not enough ideas for quick dinners. You can buy ready-made potato gnocchi (gnocchi) at any store and in no time you can easily concoct a sauce that is delicious even for children. Which is often a difficult task 🙂

preparation process

  1. Cook the gnocchi according to the directions on the package. Save about 100ml of the cooking water before straining it.

  2. Heat the butter in a deep frying pan and fry the onion, cut into strips, it should not change color, it just needs to be transparent.

  3. Put the fresh cheese in the pan, let it melt, then add the cream and the gnocchi cooking water. Whisk everything until smooth, bring to a boil and let it thicken a little.

  4. Season the sauce with salt and pepper, stir in the basil leaves until wilted, and toss the cooked gnocchi into the sauce.

  5. Divide among plates and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

The first type: The sauce has a very mild taste, if you like more pronounced flavours, you can add cubes of smoked bacon or ham to the onion base, you can also crumble a piece of blue cheese (neva, gorgonzola …) in the sauce.
